For my essay i am interested in looking at how 1950s advertisements and contemporary adverts portrayed women, and wether there is any common aspects between them.
First of all i gathered examples of magazine advertisements from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s
Some of the advertisements were so clearly sexist and ‘wrong’ for todays market, that i knew it would be an interesting area to look into.
There is also alot of academic theory on this area of advertising, alot of feminist papers, journals, and books. So i thought it would be a good area to demonstrate research skills with.
