These are images of the spreads used for printing.
As i didnt want to leave a blank page on the back cover i added the logo in and repeated the colour around, normally on an issue there would be a full ad on the reverse.
The image for the cover comes from the Main feature in the magazine, from this i samples the images colours and use this as the main colour theme for the issue, as you can see if the image is dark, a high contrast colour is used.
information about the contents are displayed, as well as sale information and issue number. THe cover trys to emulate th new darker grunger look of the magazine as well as being quite mysterious itself, not giving too much away so people would have to investigate!
The 3rd cover was qutie different, i went for a more typography based approah, using the outline tools in indesign to create the shapes for cover image to go inside the text.
Texturing with InDesign
Texturing is a major part of my design work. Normally i would design the spreads using a combination of photoshop, illustrator and indesign. normalyl adding effects and Textures in post process.
but ofr this project i wanted to focus on using mainly indesign, and importing the images at 300 dpi into the indesign file after making them with PS/AI

It was important for me to get the content page looking good, it serves as the main navigation aid, colour coded and page numbers.
The large image in the i made in photoshop, it was inspired by my visual reserach into the subject. Its a x-ray style image of a mysterious bag containing what appears to be a vhs, i left the shape fairly vague to add to the mystique of the piece. I liked the grainy feel to the image and it inspired the look of the promotional billboard adds
To accompany the magazine i also produced a small fold up magazine containing artwork from the issue.
Being a more graphically incline relaunch of the magazine, i ended up quite a few good looking images, i used existing images from the magazine as well as a few of my own made in photoshop. I placed them all in this small booklet as a way of showing the images without the text getting in the way
Originally i also wanted to produce a cover for the magazine to be placed in when its on the shelf, sadly I just did not have the time.
I produced a scale test of it, aswell as a full size net for the box
